DESCRIPTION:Indiana Parkinson’s Action Coalition presents Rally at the Indiana Statehouse\nIndiana State Capitol\, 200 West Washington St.\, Indpls\, (Between Capitol and Senate Ave.)  Use entry off Capitol Street at Market.  Please allow time to park and go through security.\nThis event is for anyone who cares about Parkinson’s Disease and its impact on Hoosiers is encouraged to join the dedicated non-profit agencies that hope to establish a state Parkinson’s Registry through legislation sponsored by Rep. Carey Hamilton.  The rally is at the Indiana Statehouse and the General Assembly is in session.  Learn about resources available to individuals and families and hear from experts.\nLet’s fill the hall and remind our legislators how important this is!  It is the fastest-growing neurological disease in the world when measured by death and disability and Indiana ranks 11th in the country for those related deaths.\nNo reservations necessary!  Wear your “Tremor Time” t-shirt from PAACI or other Parkinson’s shirt!

DESCRIPTION:Join us for our Fall Parkinson’s Symposium & Caregiver Conference \nThe first part of the event will be the Symposium\, while the second half will be the Caregiver Conference. Please feel free to come to either part of the event or the entire event. This event is free\, just purchase your own food and drink. We will have our amazing sponsors and silent auctions available for you to look at and bid on. (We take cash\, checks\, and credit cards.) This year’s silent auction includes some wonderful items including Christmas items and gift cards. So\, please come\, enjoy the speakers\, and check out the silent auctions and the sponsor tables. There will also be time after each speaker to ask questions and we hope to have an amazing exercise break. And\, if you’re one of the few people who’ve never eaten at MCL\, you should join us for lunch; their food is great and the desserts are amazing. \nAbout Our Speakers:\nOur first speaker will be Dr. Georgia Malandraki\, Professor at the Purdue Department of Speech\, Language and Hearing Sciences with a courtesy appointment in the Wheldon School of Biomedical Medicine Engineering and Research Director of the I-EAT Swallowing Research Laboratory and Clinic. Dr. Malandraki will talk to us about Swallowing Functions in PD: The latest updates on how to maintain eating safely and with pleasure. \nOur second speaker will be Rhonda Ryan\, Director of Memory Care at Hoosier Village and a Qualified Dementia Care Professional through the Leading Age Insititute for Excellence in Memory Care.
